Mark Travers became the 15th youngest goalkeeper to appear in the Premier League when he was handed his debut in May 2019.

The Irishman kept a clean sheet and helped the Cherries register a 1-0 win over Tottenham at Vitality Stadium, the club's first top-flight victory against the North London club.

He was 19 years and 351 days old when he lined up against Spurs.

Travers joined AFC Bournemouth in July 2016 as a 17-year-old following a successful trial spell.

He started out as a schoolboy with Dublin-based Cherry Orchard before joining the youth ranks at Shamrock Rovers in July 2015, playing in the SSE Airtricity Under-17 League.

Travers initially worked with the Cherries under-21s at Vitality Stadium before being elevated to the first-team squad under goalkeeper coach Neil Moss.

He spent the first half of the 2017/18 season on loan to Southern Premier League Weymouth.

And he hit the headlines when he scored the winning goal on his debut in August 2017. His chip from inside his own half earned the Terras a 3-2 win at Bishop's Stortford in the Southern Premier League

In July 2018, Travers signed a new long-term contract with the Cherries.

In April 2019, he helped the Cherries win the Central League Cup, keeping a clean sheet in a 2-0 win against Notts County in the final at Meadow Lane.

He pulled off several fine saves during his Premier League debut against Tottenham and was named man of the match by the sponsors.

Travers kept his place for the Cherries' final game of 2018/19, an eventful 5-3 defeat at Crystal Palace.

On the international front, Travers has represented the Republic of Ireland at under-15, under-16, under-18 and under-19 level.

In March 2019, Travers was called up by Mick McCarthy to the full squad. He was an unused substitute in Euro 2020 qualifiers against Gibraltar and Georgia.

A hand injury ruled him out of the Republic's Euro 2020 qualifiers against Denmark and Gibraltar in May 2019.
