Lewis Cook has been one of AFC Bournemouth’s most consistent performers since joining the club from Leeds United in July 2016.
He has played more than 100 games in the Premier League for the Cherries and made his 150th league appearance for the club during 2022/23.
Cook has displayed tremendous fortitude during his time at Vitality Stadium having battled back from two serious knee injuries, sustained in December 2018 and March 2021.
He was rewarded for his exploits with a contract extension, the midfielder penning a deal last summer which will keep him at the club at least until the end of 2024/25.
Cook progressed through the ranks at Elland Road and made 85 appearances for Leeds. He played under no fewer than six different managers during his two years in the Championship.
He was named Championship apprentice of the year and Leeds’ young player of the year in his first season before winning the EFL young player of the year award, Leeds’ young player of the year and the club’s goal of the season award in 2015/16.
Following his move to Vitality Stadium, Cook made 75 appearances during the club’s previous five-year stay in the top flight and featured 28 times as the Cherries preserved their Premier League status in 2022/23.
His first goal for the club – a stunning strike in a 4-2 win against Reading in November 2020 – was named Sky Bet Championship goal of the month and AFC Bournemouth goal of the season, the award sponsored by Strategic Solutions.
Cook twice ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee and his rehabilitation for the second one was the subject of a club documentary titled Relentless.
His international honours include winning the 2014 European Under-17 Championship, the 2017 FIFA Under-20 World Cup and the 2018 Toulon Tournament, captaining his country in the latter two tournaments.
Cook made history when he became the first serving Cherries player to represent England, the midfielder coming off the bench in a friendly against Italy at Wembley in March 2018.
