AFC Bournemouth hit seven past Barton Rovers on Sunday, as they continue their push for promotion from the Southern Region Women’s Premier League.
Braces from Rosie Eden and Chloe Tape, as well as strikes from Katie Kingshott, Rebecca Miles and Terri Harvey ensured that the Cherries remained at the top of the table ahead of a big month of fixtures.
The visitors got off to a rapid start, with Eden finding the net six minutes in after converting Tape’s precise pull back.
Kingshott then got in on the act just three minutes later, letting fly from 25-yards for arguably the strike of the afternoon.
Eden bagged her second with just 11 minutes gone, converting Emily Phillips’ through-ball.
Tape then ensured it was a four-goal lead going into half time with her first of the game, her second coming on the hour mark to make it five after tapping in the rebound from Kingshott’s effort, as Charlotte Eastman had played a delightful ball over the top.
Miles then made it two goals in as many weeks, scoring her second for the club after another fine ball from Eastman playing her in.
In the dying minutes, Harvey rounded off a good afternoon, finding the target with a wonderful effort from the edge of the box.
Following the game, a delighted Steve Davies spoke to afcb.co.uk about the win.
“It was a strong performance and a great win, and it maintains our recent good form,” he said.
The women are next in action on Sunday, as they travel to Warsash Wasps in the Southern Region Women’s Premier League.
