AFC Bournemouth Women drew 4-4 with Swansea Ladies in a pre-season friendly this weekend.

Debutant Masie Smith grabbed a hat-trick, whilst Chloe Tape also got her name on the scoresheet in an entertaining affair in Dorset.  

The Cherries opened the scoring from the spot, with Tape converting well after Chloe Spencer was fouled by the Swans ‘keeper. 

However, Swansea were back on level terms soon after as a cross from right was deflected and found the back of the net.

Another penalty was soon awarded, but this time for the visitors, with Jodie Passmore tucking it away to make the score 2-1 going into the break.

After the interval, the Cherries started strongly and were soon back on level terms as Smith headed in Meg Vella’s free-kick.   

Yet, Swansea soon hit back with two goals to make the score 4-2. Another deflected cross found the net, before Emma Beynon added another.

Nevertheless, the Cherries battled strongly and were soon duly rewarded. Smith grabbed her second after some neat and unselfish play from Jade Hockey and Tape.  

With the clock ticking away, Steve Davies’ side never gave up and soon found a leveller. Smith completed her hat-trick, tapping home after a scramble in the area.

In the dying moments, Tape almost won it for the Cherries after her shot was cleared off the line, but the game ended in a 4-4 draw.

“They were a strong opposition and it was a good game for us,” he began.

“The work rate of the players was good and I was pleased with the overall team performance.”
