The young Cherries scored goals in either half to wrap up their first three points of the new season.

Charlie Kendall broke the deadlock midway through the first period, controlling a ball in from the right side before spinning and finishing well.

And the lead was doubled on 70 minutes when Nnamdi Ofoborh capitalised on a clever short corner routine to finish from 12 yards out.

Youth team manager Carl Fletcher told afcb.co.uk: “We played well in parts. Some of our play was really good, some of it not so good. We’ll obviously take the positives and continue to work on the things we can improve on.

“A lot of it comes down to making the right decisions at the right time, and as you play more games and mature as a player the more of those decisions you tend to get right. You only have to look at the top players, they pretty much make the right decision nearly all of the time.

“Whilst it is always nice to get the victory, we’re focussed more on performances than results. Of course, we have to have that winning mentality, but it’s important that we play the game in the right way.

“The ultimate aim is for these players to progress here at Bournemouth where there are lots of things to learn and take on board, not only on the pitch but off it as well. When coming straight from the school environment it can often take some of the players a little time to adjust to the demands we put on them.”

The under-18s are next in action away at Swindon Town.
