FULL TIME

Despite a largely dominant second half, we can't break Newcastle down and we're beaten.

A largely frustrating afternoon as went 2-0 down thanks to two strikes from Salomon Rondon, but Jefferson Lerma's first goal for the club gave us a chance.

But after a second half with plenty of the ball, we could have taken a point on another day, but it's not today.

Despite the result, we appreciate your support and thank you for following wherever you are in the world.

The international break is next, as we look to bounce back against Arsenal in two weeks.

90'

Four minutes of added time...

Come on lads lets make this late pressure pay!!

89'

WHAT A SAVE!!!!!

Begovic AGAIN with a superb stop.

That is a brilliant save.

A corner breaks down and Rondon goes clean through on goal, he runs 45 yards and hits a low one... it looks like it's in but Begovic somehow gets a foot on it.

Brilliant save, it's all us but Newcastle did break on us then as we pour men forward...

85'

GOAL DISALLOWED!!!!

A corner falls to Brooks and he smashes one which Ake forces Dubravka into a superb stop from close range!

The rebound is bundled in by Gosling but the linesman flags immediately!

Unlucky!!

80'

Defoe is on...

For the last ten, JD is on!

Ibe makes way, that means that Fraser is playing at wing back now, Defoe obviously up front through the middle.

Hopefully he has an impact!

80'

What a save...

Begovic to the rescue.

Christian Atsu has just come on and drives down the right.

He curls a brilliant effort which is going to nestle into the bottom corner, but Begovic gets a fingertip to it to keep it out!

He's made some big stops today...

80'

Into the final ten minutes...

77'

Another good chance!!

Unselfish from Fraser!

He could go alone there - he got in behind on the left again - drives into the area and is close to goal!

Instead he looks to pass to Brooks and Newcastle JUST get it clear!

Isaac Hayden and Ciaran Clark are on for Ritchie and Kenedy - defensive change and it's much needed for Newcastle, we're on top!!

72'

WHAT A CHANCEE!!!!

A brilliant move!!!

We should be level...

A sweeping piece of play - Brooks to Daniels infield to Gosling, and Gosling threads a sublime pass to slip Ibe in behind!

He takes a touch and leathers it over from eight-yards!

What a chance that is for us!

65'

Chance!

Great pass from Brooks!!

It releases Fraser on the left, he drives forward in plenty of space - he could shoot but looks to square it and it's really well blocked!

Good counter and it could've been a goal - we're attacking with gusto here, but we need a goal!

63'

Just wide from Ritchie...

Newcastle counter on us and drive forward, with the ball bouncing wide for Perez on the left.

He squares it across to Ritchie who is sliding to make contact but the winger just diverts the ball wide of the right post.

Not too far away that...

60'

Half an hour left...

59'

Close from Wilson!!

Ibe gets the ball and drives at his man on the right.

It eventually goes onto his left foot and his cross is a good one to the near post!

Wilson powers a header which flies narrowly over!

The Cherries fans up at the top of the stadium thought it was in! Close!

58'

Counter!

Fraser picks up a clearance in his own half and steams towards the Newcastle area!

He gets to within 20-yards of their goal before three players come across to halt him, so the Scot rifles a low left-footed effort which is blocked!

Better!

56'

In the ascendancy...

51'

We're on top...

We look much more settled after the interval.

We haven't created anything yet, but we look less panicked in our play.

Come on lads!

46'

Back underway...

We will take being 2-1 at this stage I think!

There's been one change at half time, Dan Gosling is on for goalscorer Lerma at the break, we'll find out why as soon as we can.

Hopefully that goal late on in first-half stoppage time can rock the hosts and give us a boost now!

We're attacking towards our travelling fans in the gods - it's five at the back with Ibe at right-wing back and a front three of Fraser, Wilson and Brooks.

Go on lads!

HT

How did he squeeze that in!

HT

HALF TIME

Perez has just missed a decent chance, but we go into the break a goal down, and to be fair, we will take that I think!

Salomon Rondon has netted twice, but Lerma's first strike for the club puts the pressure on the hosts heading into the second-half!

We're off to get warm for 15 minutes, we'll see you shortly!

A big half ahead....

45'

YES!

A corner comes in, it's low towards the near post but somehow Lerma stoops low to nod it in! Not sure if it hit his shoulder or whatever, but we're back in it!

Deep into the eight minutes of stoppage, a great time for us to get a goal!

45'

GOALLL! BACK IN IT!

LERMA'S FIRST GOAL FOR THE CLUB!!

45'

SO CLOSE!

Nearly one back for us!

A great delivery from Fraser is met by Steve Cook and he smashes a header with Dubravka just tipping it over!

Could be another big save, but at the other end!

45'

Almost an own goal...

I think we need half time here...

A whipped in delivery from the right is glanced on by Wilson of all people and Begovic makes another superb save to stop it being 3-0.

We're under pressure here particularly as Newcastle whip it in from wide areas.

45'

Should be 3-0...

Great chance for Kenedy.

Ayoze Perez dinks a ball in behind our right side and he's one-on-one with Begovic!

He takes it first time and Begovic does so well to keep it 2-0, sprawling himself to get something to that!

Could be a big save...

42'

A change of shape...

The manager has passed two pieces of paper on, one to Wilson and one to Lewis Cook.

As a result, we've changed shape to 3-4-3, Francis, Steve Cook and Nathan Ake as a back three, Jordon Ibe and Charlie Daniels wing backs.

Hopefully this change of shape can get us a foothold back in this game.

39'

We're in trouble...

Ki Sung-Yeung sprays a pass out wide to Kenedy, who whips in a left-footed cross with whip.

Rondon was there to steam onto it, in all fairness it's a great leap, unfortunately for us.

He nods it into the top corner and we're 2-0 down.

A long way back, but we have done it before!

39'

GOAL for Newcastle.

Rondon scores again.

36'

Hunting for a leveller...

29'

Daniels is on...

Smith is stretchered off to a really nice reception from the Newcastle supporters.

Sad to see Smith stretchered off, he'll be replaced by Daniels and it's a straight swap at left-back.

At least a five minutes pause there, let's do this for Smithy!

23'

An injury...

Not good.

It was really innocuous too.

Adam Smith went to take a free-kick in his own half, completely routine. He dummied the ball, but he collapsed in a heap.

Unfortunately he can't continue, the physios are indicated to the manager to make a change as he goes off on a stretcher.

Charlie Daniels is ready to come on. Unfortunate for Smithy!

19'

Save!

Unlucky!

A free-kick wide from the left is whipped with real venom by Fraser!

Newcastle had every single man behind the ball, but Fraser shot from an angle and it was an excellent strike - Dubravka was at full stretch to tip that one away!

We're edging closer...

19'

A series of good attacks!

First Wilson got in behind and skinned his man, before a last ditch tackle prevented him from squaring it!

Lewis Cook then has a long range drive which looks like it's on target, with a nick taking it over the bar!

Then, Fraser smashes a low effort which again forces another good block!

We've turned the game on it's head, we just need that crucial equaliser to show for our efforts!

15'

Decent opening!

Ibe has another close range effort blocked before skipper Simon Francis drives forward and slaps a low ball in!

It cannons off a defender and causes Martin Dubravka a problem, but rolls wide.

Better from us, the manager is gesturing out players to stay higher up the pitch, not to invite pressure on us by sitting deep.

11'

Ibe's early chance... close!

08'

Big penalty appeal turned away!

Directly in front of us , Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall are very angry about that one!

A ball is loose in the penalty area, Brooks gets there in front of Fernandez and is kicked to the floor - nothing given!

Fernandez looked favourite to the ball, but judging by Howe and Tindall's reaction alone, that's at the very least a close call!

07'

A poor one from us...

DeAndre Yedlin steamed past Adam Smith on the right hand side.

He was then able to cross to the unmarked Rondon in the middle.

Asmir Begovic made a superb save to deny him from eight-yards, but the rebound unfortunately fell to the Venezuelan who makes no mistake on the rebound.

Not the start we had in mind.

06'

GOAL for Newcastle.

Salomon Rondon scores.

02'

Really good chance early on!!

A swift counter!

Ryan Fraser sweeps a magnificent ball from deep to Brooks and we get going on the break!

Callum Wilson squares the ball to Jordon Ibe in the area, and on his first Premier League start of the season, he produces a superb block from Federico Fernandez.

A great chance, but a sublime piece of defending!

01'

We're underway....

David Brooks gets us underway here at St. James' Park.

There's a superb following of Cherries fans to our left in the gods, with a Colobia flag in there too!

In our 'Beach Glass' third kit today, come on lads!

14:57

A minute's silence...

Both teams are out now.

There's a minute's silence to remember the fallen war heroes of both World Wars here at St. James' Park.

Newcastle fans have produced two superb banners to commemorate the anniversary to our right.

14:37

Head to head record...

Well, there's one key stat about goals scored in this fixture.

Five of the last seven Premier League goals between us and Newcastle have been scored in the 80th minute or later... so expect late drama!

United's only home league win against the Cherries came in 1990 in the second division, and we've won our last two games on this ground.

Who can forget one of the best moments of last season, when Steve Cook nodded in late on?

One of the performances - and photos - of the season.

14:21

One to watch...

Who else?

Matt Ritchie did wonders for us during our promotion story to the Premier League - and then went on to play all but one game in our first ever top flight campaign.

It's always the way with supporters, you always expect a former player to do well against you.

So Ritchie is our one to watch this week for that alone! No big stats, no actual insight. just the fact he used to play for us!

14:12

Callum Wilson...

Seeing all the articles, tweets and everything that's been written about Callum Wilson this week is surely inspiring for any young player in the game.

Will we see Wilson continue his hot streak?

It's some form he's in, with six goals and four assists he's already equalled his combined total from 28 league appearances last season.

Let's hope another good performance is in store to show the nation just why Gareth Southgate has picked him!

14:06

For the WWE fans out there...

If you're not a wrestling fan, then I am sorry!!

But Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre, two huge figures in WWE at the moment, think we're going to lose 2-0 today...

(I'm unashamedly a fan, hence why this post is even a thing)

Pin that up on the dressing room door Eddie!

14:01

A 300th appearance for Simon Francis!

A great achievement from the skipper, top stuff.

The other headline team news is that Jordon Ibe starts for the first time in the Premier League this season, with Junior Stanislas not amongst the squad.

TEAM IN TEXT: Begovic; Francis (C), S Cook, Ake, Smith; Ibe, L Cook, Lerma, Fraser; Brooks; Wilson.

SUBS: Boruc, Daniels, Gosling, Surman, Pugh, Mousset, Defoe.

13:39

A Premier League debut...

For our 'Beach Glass' (aka Mint Green - that's what I'll call it) kit today!

13:29

We're not in bad shape...

We're on a bit of a roll apart from the unfortunate Manchester United defeat last week.

We could secure our fourth Premier League away victory of the season, that'd match our entire tally for the previous season.

On top of that, on average, the Cherries have secured two points per game over the last 13 matches - that is some going!

A tough game in store today for sure, but the squad will be confident after losing just one of the last seven games.

13:17

Team news...

The manager once again has confirmed that Joshua King is absent for the second game in succession, we're not sure if he'll be called up to Norway's squad as a result of his ankle problem.

As for everyone else, Marc Pugh and Kyle Taylor didn't feature for the under-21s last night, so we guess they've travelled with the squad.

Newcastle on the other hand are likely to be without Jamal Lascelles, Jonjo Shelvey and Yoshinori Muto, who were all substituted with injuries against Watford last weekend.

12:39

So, what's in store for us today?

Obviously a long journey for our supporters, one we hope is a good one for them!

Newcastle United are looking for consecutive league victories for the first time since April, after they beat Watford last weekend.

That win was only their second in 16 league fixtures however, having drawn three and lost the other 11.

At home, they've lost six of their last eight Premier League games - so hopefully the game falls in our favour like the stats do!

12:24

Welcome...

After the under-21s game last night, the media team have made a swift arrival on the Toon, who needs sleep!?
