Well, what an intriguing workout that was!
Seven goals between the sides, as Emerson Hyndman, Jermain Defoe, Jack Simpson and Lewis Cook all scorein front of 800 at La Manga club!
A whirlwind first half was followed by Cook's stunning winner in the second....

A poor clearance falls into his path 25-yards out, Cook has so much to do, but he smashes one into the bottom left! Well worth watching on afcbTV later, an utterly fabulous strike!

Adam Smith does well down the right, his cross picks out Joshua King who is alert to chest the ball down.
The touch is perfect for Marc Pugh, who is able to blast one from the edge but the 'keeper is able to tip it over. Good passage of play, good save to thwart us.

Well this half has been a lot calmer than the first.
We have had more control of the game though, which we're sure will please the manager.
Pre-season isn't always about results but the way we've calmed the game down will be one of the positives.

A let off.
The Levante midfielder gets through one on one and steams towards goal.
But Asmir Begovic makes himself look big and he scuffs his effort centrally - the big Bosnian can dive on to the ball to claim. Big chance, that.

We raced into a two goal lead thanks to goals from Emerson Hyndman and Jermain Defoe - two really well taken goals.
Levante then went into overdrive scoring three goals, before Jack Simpson's late leveller ended a crazy half here in La Manga...

They've turned it around.
Marti has his second of the game. Ruben Rochina's clever through ball down the side finds him and he's able to deftly find the bottom left corner.
We haven't threatened much in the past ten minutes or so, the La Liga side are looking to break on us, this was the perfect example.

He pulls the trigger and looks to curl it across the goalkeeper. It's JD, so it looks like it's heading in, but for a diving block from the Levante defender.

Roger Marti gets a lay off just inside the area and whips a brilliant effort into the bottom corner.
That's a lovely goal, unfortunately for us, but we're still on top.

We look dangerous on the ball and we go 2-0 up! Another lovely move, Ryan Fraser gets it wide left, puts in a cross and Jermain Defoe does what he's done throughout his whole career!
Defoe finds a deft touch in the area to find the corner, a lovely, lovely finish!

Players to watch...
Enis Bardhi and Emmanuel Boateng both start for Levante this evening.
Last season, they scored five goals between them as Levante were 5-4 winners over Barcelona in La Liga last season.
Boateng is a Ghanaian international striker, while Bardhi is a tricky Macedonian winger.

"Levante returned to La Liga last season after spending just one year in Segunda. Initially, things were going according to plan, but a dreadful slump a few months into the campaign saw Juan Ramon Lopez Muniz sacked and replaced by B team coach Paco Lopez.
"The Valencia-based club will look to play on the break, with a well protected pair of centre backs. They sat a little deeper and relying on their quality and pace on the ball to pick their moments to take risks, they got their rewards."
