Commentary By

FULL TIME

Hegazi's first half header proves the difference in a tight contest.

Not to be today, but thanks for following and listening on the live commentary.

Much appreciated, we'll see you next week!

90: Save!

The ball falls to Fraser on the edge and after a scramble, he curls one straight into Foster's arms.

90: Top save by Begovic!

Rondon steams onto the ball and curls one from 20-yards. It's nestling right into the bottom corner but for Begovic's left hand. Fabulous stop.

INJURY TIME

FIVE MINUTES ADDED TIME. COME ON LADS!

84: Final WBA change...

Rodriguez, lively throughout is replaced by Rondon.

84: Chance!

King steams past Hegazi, but his touch is heavy at an angle and invites Foster to come out and challenge.

82: Yellow card for Arter...

He kicked the ball away and is booked after communication from the linesman.

82: Chance for WBA.

Hal Robson-Kanu takes it down in the box, swivels and strikes a volley over from eight-yards.

Cherries not looking likely to get anything at the moment. Come on lads!

80: Save!

Fraser's free-kick from the left was a delightful delivery, Ake rose above his man and nodded it straight at Foster. Unlucky.

80: Booking...

Rodriguez takes out Fraser. Deserved yellow.

78: Confirmed sub...

Smith has come on for Francis. Surman takes the armband.

77: Francis down...

Smith being prepared on the touchline here. Set to come on imminently.

74: Big chance for WBA...

Great defending by Ake!

A misplaced pass goes to Livermore and he threads in McClean but just as he's about to pull the trigger, but Ake slid in to avert the danger.

Good challenge.

70: Changes for WBA...

Field and Phillips off, for Rekeem Harper and Hal Robson-Kanu.

Good to see the back of Phillips, who was really threatening.

66: Decent opening...

JD flicks it to King in the box and they try to work a free effort on goal, King then shoots but it's well defended.

63: He's back in red and black...

Defoe comes on for Afobe. Huge buzz from the fans as Defoe comes on. Even applause from Albion fans.

Attendance...

There's 25,011 in the ground with 2,489 away fans in the stands.

Hopefully we can give the Cherries fans who have travelled something to celebrate!

60: Good effort!

A short corner is worked into King who has an effort in the area well blocked!

Looked threatening!

56: A series of corners for WBA...

All of which have threatened us.

Yacob hit the side netting, Begovic was forced to make a save and Afobe headed a menacing delivery extremely well away from underneath the goal.

Albion on top at the moment.

Pictured...

Joshua King tries to find us a way through. No joy yet for us.

49: Decent effort...

... from Arter. He lines one up from 25-yards - Foster didn't dive but it wasn't too far away.

48: Decent chance for WBA...

Hegazi sprays a 40-yard pass which gets Nyom in behind, but some excellent defending from Ake clears the danger!

Second-half underway...

Come on you Cherries!

Half time sub...

Pughie makes way for Jordon Ibe. We're moments away from the second-half...

Elsewhere...

Well, it could be worse.

We could be Chelsea today!

SCORES AT HALF TIME:

Chelsea 0-3 Burnley

Crystal Palace 0-2 Huddersfield

Everton 1-0 Stoke City

Southampton 0-0 Swansea

For you FPL players, Wayne Rooney has scored. (He's in my team...)

But the mood this afternoon all depends on the second-half here. Come on lads!

HALF-TIME...

We're a goal down at the break.

Hegazi's header the difference, not an awful lot in the game though.

Right, I'm off for ten minutes, see you shortly guys.

45: A minute added time...

As the headline says. We're enjoying the ball but can't afford to go into the break two down.

41: Chance for us!

King got in behind on the right, Foster came out and stopped it, before King retrieved the rebound and he couldn't pick out Benik in the middle for a tap in!

Close!

39: Huge chance for WBA...

Not sure how it's not gone in.

Hegazi flicks on a corner and Yacob is there at the back post unmarked but he misses from six-yards.

Should score.

37: Good spell...

Wer had a good bit of the ball around the WBA penalty area just then.

Afobe got in behind but had a cross blocked, and some neat football lead to a penalty appeal for handball which didn't look like a penalty from here.

34: CLOSE!!!

Fraser whips in a free-kick and just as Afobe is about to meet it, it comes off Brunt and flies narrowly wide!

34: Booking...

Yacob is booked for WBA.

A little bit naughty, he kicked Fraser in the side - a yellow is fair.

33: Effort again...

Hegazi again.

He uses his big frame to get in front of his man and slashs one over from the edge.

Albion on top at the moemnt.

GOAL for WBA.

From a setplay.

Brunt delivers and Hegazi steams onto it to score the opener.

We're behind...

Pughie working hard...

He gets a hand in his face from Nyom but he's battling away on the left hand side. Plenty of touches so far!

22: Close to going behind...

It's Rodriguez again.

He goes a fraction away from the opener, he got into the area and curled an effort from the a hair away from the right post.

A great effort in fairness, fortunate for us it wasn't perfect!

20: Free-kick...

Easily cleared by the first man. Sorry to disappoint you!

20: Settled...

After a few early scares from Rodriguez, we've settled own and are now having plenty of the ball.

Free-kick for us in a dangerous area incoming...

13: Saved again!

Rodriguez is causing us problems.

He's had another effort, one from a tight angle in the area, well palmed out by Begovic.

Another good save.

8: Save!

Rodriguez latches onto a long throw and hits one from close range but Begovic palms it away.

Fine reactions, Rodriguez was in the six-yard box - top save.

7: Chance for WBA...

Rodriguez pulls it back to Phillips in the area but from 14-yards, he clips it well over.

A decent opening, should do better. A bit of a let off.

5: Unlucky!

Daniels forrays forward with one of his trademark runs and is slipped in by Arter with a great ball. Foster is alert to smother the ball before Daniels can get a shot away!

Very dangerous, that.

3: Lively...

Good opening. Cherries fans loud as ever.

First effort has come from Rodriguez who hits one from distance straight at Begovic. A little sighter for him.

We're underway...

WBA get us underway for the new season. Don't forget to listen to live commentary above by logging in.

COME ON YOU CHERRIES!

Attacking ends...

We were set to attack towards our fans in the second half, but we'll now attack towards them in the first, the ends have been swapped.

The mindgames begin!

Five minutes to go...

The players are out on the pitch.

Franno leads us out... the boys look ready. Fans in great voice to our right behind the goal. Come on lads!!

Tommy Elphick...

He's not involved for Villa today, so he's here in the away end!!

That's class from him! Always welcome Tommy!!

15 minutes...

'Til kick-off! The Cherries fans are slowly filling the Smethwick End to our right.

2,480 supporters have made the trip to the Hawthorns. Top stuff!

STATS...

In our last five Premier League games, we haven't lost!

AND...

Against today's opponents, we've lost just once in the last five. That was last season's fixture here.

Shooting drill...

I have to say, Marc Pugh is looking lethal in front of us! Hasn't missed yet...

Might be a good bet for first goalscorer - gamble responsibly though guys!

Mascots...

Well in lads!

JD, Lys and Nathan pose for a photo with our young mascots today. Nice stuff!

Elsewhere...

Watford have just taken a point with Liverpool in a 3-3 draw.

Attackers seem to be having plenty of joy at the start of the new campaign!

Let's hope it's the same for us this afternoon!

As for us...

Benik was in good form in pre-season, netting four times in the four games he played in.

Besides Ake and Surman, this is essentially the side that finished so strongly last season.

Hope that's not a jinx!!

One to watch...

Jay Rodriguez has been touted by pundits and journalists as someone who has impressed in pre-season.

Dogged by injuries, he seems to be back to his best, and unfortunately we all know his quality with his volley against us for Saints last season...

Home side...

So how have WBA looked in pre-season?

Well, results don't matter before the season, but we'll show you anyway! Albion won two of their eight matches.

If anything, West Brom have usually started well in the Premier League and enjoyed a decent season after a mixed pre-season.

WBA team...

Here's the team we'll face...

Foster; Nyom, Dawson, Hegazi, Brunt; Yacob, Livermore, Field; Phillips, McClean, Rodriguez.

No Jonny Evans, so we're guessing that Dawson will shift to centre-back.

Line-up...

So, we are: Begovic; Francis, S Cook, Ake, Daniels; Fraser, Surman, Arter, Pugh; King, Afobe.

Subs: Boruc, A.Smith, Mings, Gosling, Ibe, Mousset, Defoe.

Team news...

Will arrive at 2pm.

We've got some snazzy new graphics to show you all! Jermain Defoe, Asmir Begovic and Nathan Ake could be in line to make their debuts since returning to the club.

The manager said that Defoe and Steve Cook will be in contention after picking up knocks in pre-season.

Injuries...

So the manager confirmed yesterday that Junior Stanislas will be out for a month.

Another absentee is Callum Wilson, who is making good progress and had a message for the lads ahead of the game.

Ringo thinks Benik is the man for the occasion...

Dan is feeling a comfortable win...

Darren is predicting goals...

Predictions...

We don't know the team yet.

But there are some confident Cherries fans out there, that start of season optimism is well and truly here!

Sneak peak...

A little look into the dressing room at The Hawthorns.

We're all set with just under two hours to go.

Welcome...

...to the Hawthorns as we kick off our Premier League campaign!

We're all excited, the players and fans are buzzing, so lets hope for a good day today in the Midlands!

Two hours 'til kick-off and we can't wait!!
