Charity policy

For the duration of the 2018/19 season, AFC Bournemouth will work with four charity partners.

The four charities, who all work locally, were nominated and then voted for by four key parts of the club, with the following charitable organisations chosen by the club’s supporters, Junior Cherries, AFC Business and the club’s staff.

The chosen charities will receive support from the club across the 2018/19 campaign that will include profile-raising player appearances, signed merchandise and club media support.

Bournemouth Foodbank (supporters' charity)

Bournemouth Foodbank offer support to local people in crisis and provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food to those in need.

Ed Briggs of Bournemouth Foodbank said: “We share a love for the community of Bournemouth and a passion to help local people. With this continued support we look forward to seeing an end to hunger in our town.”

Gully’s Place (Junior Cherries charity)

Gully’s Place was developed by Poole Hospital Charity to support children’s palliative care across Dorset, working at the hospital, at home and beyond.

Sara Fripp of Gully’s Place said: “We are delighted that Gully’s Place has been chosen as the Junior Cherries charity of the year, we’re really excited about the partnership and look forward to a fantastic season of fundraising!”

Dorset Mental Health Forum (AFC Business charity)

Headquartered in Dorchester, the Dorset Mental Health Forum is a local peer-led charity that exists to improve the lives of everyone affected by mental illness by promoting wellbeing and recovery.

Con Giorgi of Dorset Mental Health Forum said: “Working with the Cherries will raise our profile and by strengthening our partnership we can look to support more people in recovery across the county not only through football but also through the Forum’s other projects and services.”

The Crumbs Project (club staff charity)

Based at Slades Farm, Ensbury Park, the Crumbs Project is a catering training organisation which provides a safe environment for adults with learning disabilities, mental health issues, stabilised drug and alcohol addictions, head and brain injuries, all serving the local community.

Leanne Miller of the Crumbs Project said: “This is a great opportunity for our small charity to gain awareness of the important work we do with vulnerable adults in our local community."
