Chris Mepham has established himself as a popular member of the AFC Bournemouth squad since joining the club from Brentford in January 2019.
He was handed his Premier League debut as a substitute in the Cherries’ 4-0 win against Chelsea at Vitality Stadium and made 13 appearances in the top flight in 2018/19.
Mepham scored his first Premier League goal during a 1-1 draw with Sheffield United on the opening day of the 2019/20 season.
He played 14 games in all competitions in 2019/20 before discovering he had damaged knee ligaments during the FA Cup third-round win over Luton in January 2020.
Mepham had surgery at the start of the year and again went under the knife after feeling discomfort following a substitute appearance against Newcastle in July 2020.
Harrow-born Mepham hit the ground running at the beginning of the 2020/21 campaign, featuring prominently as the Cherries made an impressive start in the Championship before a calf injury robbed him of his place.
Mepham came off the bench in the fifth and sixth rounds of the FA Cup as the Cherries reached the quarter-finals for only the second time in their history.
The defender was sent off for pulling down Bryan Mbeumo during the second leg of the Championship play-off semi-final defeat against Brentford.
Mepham made 24 appearances as the Cherries won promotion to the Premier League for only the second time in 2021/22 and played 26 times in the top flight in 2022/23.
He started his career in the academy ranks at Chelsea before joining Brentford in 2012, making his first-team debut as a substitute in a 5-1 win over Eastleigh in the third round of the FA Cup in January 2017.
Internationally, Mepham qualifies to play for Wales through his late grandmother and has represented them at under-20, under-21 and senior level.
He featured in the delayed 2020 Euros and started all three group games against USA, Iran and England at the World Cup finals in Qatar in 2022.
