Andrew Surman has shared his thoughts after this afternoon’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Watford.
Marco Silva’s side took the lead on 73 minutes through new signing Richarlison, before Etienne Capoue’s long-range strike doubled their tally 13 minutes later.
Following the full-time whistle, Surman spoke of what went wrong during the match and how the Cherries can overcome the defeat.
“It’s disappointing because I don’t think we really got going,” he told afcbTV.
“We had some good opportunities in the first half but the longer it goes on, there’s more danger of conceding.
“I think once we conceded the first, they got behind the ball and made it difficult for us. As a result, we didn’t really create enough to get back into the game.
“It’s always tight in the Premier League. Normally the team that score the first goal probably go on to win because then they’re very organised like Watford were today.
“I think we shot ourselves in foot. We gave the ball away too much and you can’t do that in this league and expect not to concede.
“We’ll watch the game and try to figure out why exactly it happened. We need to move on and work out how to put it right.”
Surman also spoke of how the Cherries can come back from the defeat and the opportunity to right the wrongs in Tuesday night’s game against Birmingham City.
“It’s always good to have a game around the corner especially when you’ve lost at the weekend,” he continued.
“Its going to be another tough game so we have to go into it and see if we can progress in the cup.
“We have to try and get that intensity back. We’ve always played at higher intensities and we’ve always created chances but the final product hasn’t quite been there yet.
“We need to find that sooner rather than later because the games don’t get much easier.”
