King confident on turnaround in fortunes

King was on the scoresheet for the second successive game, as the Cherries slipped to a narrow 2-1 defeat against Everton at Goodison Park.

And despite the frustration at outcome on Merseyside, King says the team showed enough to suggest a turnaround in results is imminent.

“We felt like we dominated the game,” he told afcbTV. “Obviously when they scored the equaliser they made it hard for us. We’re leaving the game disappointed because we feel we should have got all three points.

“We put in a good performance, but we maybe lacked a bit of discipline and focus in the last 20 or so minutes. When they scored the equaliser we should have maybe kept it that way and tried to see the game out for a point.

“But we always want to win games, and unfortunately for us they were the ones who managed to score.

“We had loads of chances. It’s our own fault that we didn’t win today. We should have put the game to bed but we didn’t take our chances. They put their chances away and have come away with the points.

“We know we win games by scoring goals. We’ve got a lot of good goalscorers in this squad, with myself and JD. Benik and Lys are also very good finishers and we know the goals will come. Things just didn’t go our way in front of goal today.”

Next up the Cherries welcome Leicester City to Vitality Stadium, and King believes the squad will have no issues putting the disappointment at Goodison Park behind them.

He continued: “We’ve got a tough game coming up on Saturday against Leicester. The only aim for that game is to get three points.

“We’ll move on from this disappointment as soon as we’re in training on Monday.

“We’re a positive group and we know after today’s performance we can’t beat ourselves up too much. Yes, we lost the game, but we need to take the positives and ensure we don’t lose games like this again.”
