AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has addressed the media after his side’s incredible 4-0 victory over Chelsea at Vitality Stadium on Tuesday night.

A goal from David Brooks, a brace from Joshua King, and the stoppage time cherry on the cake from Charlie Daniels gave Bournemouth back-to-back wins and a Winter night to remember.

Following the game, the delighted Cherries boss commented on the following topics…

Another memorable night

It's up there with our special performances in the Premier League. I don't know where it ranks, but I just like to enjoy the brief feeling you get from winning. It was a tough night and a tough game.

The first half was a real examination of us defensively and thankfully we stood up to that. The message at half-time was not to worry if we didn't have the ball. I haven't said that many times while managing Bournemouth!

We were never going to dominate possession in that game and I felt we were okay without the ball. We were a lot better in our mindset in the second half and that helped us to counter-attack and score some great goals on the transitions.

Defensive rewards

The clean sheet is something we had to improve on. The whole team defended so well. You wouldn't have thought we had struggled in that respect this season. Artur Boruc made a brilliant save which was pivotal, the two full-backs were brilliant as well as the centre-backs.

David Brooks and Joshua King were a threat going the other way, but also in dealing with Jorginho and in executing our tactical plan.

Injuries to Wilson, Brooks, and Lerma

Callum Wilson just had a minor knee operation to clean out the knee. We don't think he'll be out long, maybe three to four weeks. As for David Brooks, I need to speak to him and the physios to find the extent of his injury.

Jefferson Lerma has got an ankle injury. We've done the relevant scans and we don't think it's anything too serious but he's got pain in his ankle so that was the concern for us.
