Ryan Fraser has spoken of his delight after helping Scotland defeat Israel 3-2 in the Nations League last night.
The win sees Alex McLeish’s side promoted to League B, with a EURO 2020 play-off spot also confirmed.
And Fraser was an integral part of the win, with two assists for Scotland to add to his maiden international goal, scored against Albania on Friday.
Speaking to talkSPORT, the winger discussed last night’s victory and what he puts his current form down to.
“It was a good game,” he began.
“We obviously had to win it because they could’ve got through with a draw. But I thought we deserved it and we were good going forward.
“We’ve got a young team and not a lot of experience. When you’re 3-1 up, it’s not easy to see out a game in international football and to get the result in the end, it’s a fantastic achievement. It will give Scottish fans, and us, a lot of confidence.
“I’m just trying to enjoy my football at the moment, I know it’s easy to say that.
“I’m trying not to think about my performance, or goals and assists, too much. I just want to win every game and enjoy it. If you do that the rest goes with it.”
Fraser, who now has nine assists for club and country this season, and tops the Premier League assist chart, also expressed his delight for teammate Callum Wilson, who scored his first international goal for England on Thursday.
“I’m delighted for Callum, I think he deserved it sooner to be honest,” the 24-year-old continued.
“He had to wait for his chance and, when he got it, he scored. Hopefully he’ll be in England squads in the future now, especially if keeps doing well for Bournemouth.
“We’re a tight unit at Bournemouth, we like to see each other do well. We’ll say congratulations when we see each other, but at the end of the day we need to forget about it quickly.
“We’ve got Arsenal on Sunday and it’s a massive game. We’ve then got Manchester City after that, so two hard games but hopefully we can get something out of them.
“We’ve had really good games against Arsenal in the past; they’re obviously different under the new manager and we’re a different team this season too. We both like to score goals and I think it’ll be an interesting game.”
