Community round up: Easter fun and overseas visits

AFC Bournemouth AFC Bournemouth

It has been a busy Easter Holiday so far!

We’ve returned from our coaching trip to Australia, which was an excellent opportunity to deliver Soccer School sessions for pupils from Gregory Terrace, St Joseph’s College, as well as hosting a CPD event for coaches at Brisbane City FC.

This week, we continue our Soccer Schools and have also showcased our young talented players at Tuesday’s open training event. Players from the AFC Bournemouth under-10 and under-12 girls teams, alongside our Cerebral Palsy and Downs Syndrome training groups were pitchside prior to the training session.

We are also looking forward to this weekend’s Premier League fixture against Fulham, which is our designated match day. Prior to the game, why not head to the Junior Fanzone, where you will find the Community Sports Trust coaches hosting fun activities and games for the children, including FIFA, football challenges and our popular powerstrike.

Eddie Howe, Jason Tindall and the first team squad will be showing their support too. Management will be wearing Community Sports Trust pin-badges and the players will warm up in our branded t-shirts. The t-shirts will have our social media links on the back, so check out our pages there!

Saturday’s flagbearers have all been selected from various Community Sports Trust programmes including Care South, AFC Bournemouth girls teams, Primary Stars and Premier League Kicks. They will all be wearing Community Sports Trust t-shirts as they form a guard of honour for the players to walk out onto the pitch.

We’ll also be hosting the half-time penalty shoot-out for children as normal and we look forward to welcoming some of the fans onto the pitch to try their luck from the spot.

Mini-Cherries

Term-time toddler football sessions resume from next week. Mini-Cherries football sessions for boys and girls aged 1-3 years old take place Wednesday’s at the Branksome Centre and Thursday’s at The Shack. It’s £2.00 to play.

AFC Bournemouth Women’s Fixture

AFC Bournemouth Women’s Development Squad play their final home game of the season this weekend. The Cherries, who are currently top of the league host second place Bournemouth Sports at Verwood Town FC. Kick-off is 2pm.

Premier League Kicks Fixtures

Over the past week, a number of our under-16 kicks attendees have taken part in fixtures. On Sunday a team of boys travelled to South East London to play Crystal Palace before watching the Premier League game against Man City. Prior to that we enjoyed a successful day at the Premier League Kicks Cup, where our under-16 girls team reached the semi-final of the competition.
