Last weekend was another busy weekend for the AFC Bournemouth girls, who were all in action across the weekend.

Saturday was filled with league fixtures, whilst the under-14 and under-16 sides continued their run in the Surrey FA Cup on the Sunday.

The under-10 girls travelled to Whitely Whites for a Hampshire League fixture. The AFC Bournemouth girls scored the opening goal of the game, and they were able to take control from there on in.

The defence was excellent in dealing with the oppositions counter-attacks, and the attacking players performed well in front of goal.

The girls put into practice the work they had done in training, with the use of small passes to play around the defenders proving key.

The under-12 girls hosted KBS Dragons at Bournemouth School for Girls, as the Cherries returned to winning ways.

AFC Bournemouth started the game with good energy and intensity, and applied early pressure to the KBS defence, which was rewarded as Aimee C. opened the scoring. Talulla and Holly also added goals shortly after.

KBS then scored two goals in quick succession to put pressure on the AFC Bournemouth team, but Aimee C. expertly finished to extend the Cherries’ lead to two goals going into to half time.

Soon after the break, some fantastic link-up play between Talulla and Kelcey created the opportunity for Aimee C. to complete her hat-trick.

Talulla also got herself a brace, with a special back-heel volley which ensured that the side won 6-2, keeping up their 100% record in the league.

Playing on the neighbouring pitch, AFC Bournemouth’s under-14 girls hosted Winchester City Flyers, where they found themselves 1-0 down after a good burst of pace from Winchester’s striker, which allowed her to get in behind the Cherries defence to finish.

However, the Cherries reacted well and scored two goals in quick succession to take the lead. Just before half-time, two unforced errors led to another goal being conceded and the score line was level at 2-2.

The girls begun the second half dominating possession and were able to limit their opponents’ counter-attacks. This dominance led to further goals, through Hannah H., who scored created space on the edge of the area to score.

The next Cherries goal came from Emily, who bagged from the penalty spot after being fouled, with the final goal of the game coming from Maya as the Cherries’ ran out 5-2 winners.

In the final league game of the weekend, AFC Bournemouth’s under 16 girls travelled to Portsmouth, where they were hosted by Pompey ITC.

Despite the Cherries taking an early 2-0 lead, the Portsmouth team were able to get themselves back into the game, to see the half finish 2-1.

As the second half progressed, Pompey equalised, and this spurred them on to win the game 4-3.
