The latest report, as our women hosted Spurs in a friendly.

Rosie Eden’s hat-trick, along with goals from Jade Hockey and Erin Thickett, paved the way for an excellent result at Verwood Town FC.

After a couple of early chances, the opener for the Cherries came just seven minutes in.

A Meg Vella flick saw the ball go over the centre-back and Eden was able to take advantage of a mis-hit clearance from the Spurs ‘keeper, firing home the loose ball from just in side the box.

A little over five minutes later came the goal of the game, as Roza Bailey found Hockey on the edge of the box, the midfielder then firing her effort into the top corner.

A third came after and it was Eden who bagged her second of the afternoon, the striker latching onto Maisy Smith’s ball to convert.

Before the half-time whistle blew, Steve Davies’ side bagged another thanks to debutant Thickett. The youngster received the ball down the right and saw her eventual cross fly in over the Tottenham goalkeeper.

After the break, it was an end-to-end affair and Spurs managed to pull one back to reduce the deficit.

However, it didn’t hold the Cherries back and Eden soon got her hat-trick, lobbing the onrushing Spurs ‘keeper for a fifth of the game.

Afterwards, manager Davies spoke with afcb.co.uk about the friendly.

“It was a good workout for the players,” he began.

“It helped out preparations for our upcoming friendly with Yeovil and the cup final against Moneyfields.

“It was also nice to have five of our development squad playing in the first team against Spurs.”
