AFC Bournemouth kick-started their league campaign with an excellent 6-0 win over Alton Ladies in the Southern Region Women’s Football League.
Chloe Tape capitalised on a defensive mistake to put the Cherries ahead on three minutes, before Rosie Eden scored her first of the game on the half-hour mark.
The visitors continued to dominate, with large spells of possession in midfield and a strong back four keeping Alton at bay.
Emma Davis was then alert to the hosts’ third defensive mistake of the afternoon, as she netted past the Alton ‘keeper just before the break.
The Cherries started the second half as they’d left off and this time it was Aimee-Rose Collier who scored her second goal in as many games, giving the side a 4-0 lead.
Just two minutes later and with over half-an-hour still to go, Eden was once again on hand make AFC Bournemouth’s possession count and ensure that the Cherries recorded the result they deserved.
As the game drew to a close and the Cherries brought on some fresh legs from the bench, Eden rounded off with her hat-trick after some quick play around the area and a lovely shot after beating the full-back.
Following the match, Women's manager Steve Davies spoke of his delight to afcb.co.uk.
“I’m really pleased with the performance,” he said.
“We’ve scored 11 goals in two games and that’s an encouraging sign this early on in the season. All the girls have contributed right from the defence to the forwards."
Meanwhile, despite two fantastic goals from Helen Corbin and a good team performance from the young side, which included three sixteen year olds who have progressed through the girls youth system, Justin Murry’s Development Squad lost 6-3 to Gosport Borough Ladies in their opening game of the season.
