Young Cherries win at Eastleigh
Jake Cope scored the winner for the under-21s as a young side overcame Eastleigh at Silverlake Stadium.
Despite a performance which saw the Cherries create plenty of chances against the Spitfires, but under-18s man Cope reacted to a loose ball in the box from close range following Matt Butcher's well struck effort - Butcher's first start since a long injury lay-off.
Cope's first half strike ensured Shaun Cooper's second win in charge in his second game following the Premier League Cup win over West Bromwich Albion.
And Cooper was pleased with the youngsters' display: "We worked the ball really well today and created plenty of good opportunities.
"We could have been a bit more clinical but we did control the game and that's a really pleasing thing to take.
"They were very direct and we nullified their threats very well. Two under-18s started the game and six others came on so we were a young side today.
"But it's important to give them a run out and we're pleased with the afternoon's work."
