Jake Scrimshaw gave the visitors an all-important lead on the stroke of half time, with the game secured by Jake Cope's second-half effort.

The closure of the M3 meant the Cherries arrived late for the game, with under-18s manager Alan Connell noting that this was perhaps a factor in the good result not necessarily being matched by a good performance.

Connell said: "The preparations weren't ideal with the motorway closure and us having to take the back roads to get there.

"That perhaps lent itself to a disappointing first half with the quality of the passing and movement not up to the standards that have been set so far this season.

"Scoring right on the break was possibly the only positive to come from the first 45 minutes so at half time we adjusted ourselves and did improve for the second half.

"We still didn't hit the heights in our performance but after Jake Cope scored we did the basics well to make sure we got the result.

"It's been a busy week with three games, but the results have gone well with three wins and three clean sheets."

In their next game, the under-18s - who are sponsored by Strategic Solutions - host Swindon Town on Saturday at Canford Arena - the match a top-of-the-table affair and kicking off at 11am with all fans welcome.
