The AFC Bournemouth under-18s soar to the top of the league after a 2-1 home win over Swindon Town.

The result stretched the side's unbeaten run to ten games as goals either side of the break from Antonio Diaz and Ryan Glover saw the under-18s come from a goal down to beat the Robins - who had been top of the league ahead of kick-off.

The side's manager, Alan Connell, spoke to afcb.co.uk after his squad's latest success: "We had prepared well across the week and the boys were in a good place for a positive performance.

"We started well and were on the front foot, taking the game to Swindon.

"Midway through the first half we conceded and it was then that I wanted to see the character and personality of the players and how they would deal with the setback - and the boys did really well.

"We missed a penalty and then equalised before the break thanks to an individual goal from Diaz.

"In the second half we scored on the the hour mark and then Swindon came out, putting balls into the box, but we could and maybe should have score more goals.

"We needed to defend resolutely, and the players that started plus the substitutes stood up to the test.

"Reaching the top of the table isn't the pinnacle of the season, now it's about preparing for next week and Plymouth and showing we can continue our form."

The under-18s - who are sponsored by Strategic Solutions - next face Plymouth Argyle at Canford Arena at 11am on Saturday 7th October.
