The home side raced into a two-goal lead in a game played in difficult conditions.
The young Cherries persisted in their attempts to get back in the game and the deficit was eventually halved in the 85th minute when Defender Brennan Camp converted from close range following a set piece delivery.
And despite a late rally, there was to be no leveller.
Youth team manager Carl Fletcher told afcb.co.uk: “We were in control of the game for large parts, but we needed to be better in possession of the ball and our decision making was off at certain times in the game.
“We’d worked in the week at moving the ball quickly and looking to play forward through Exeter's press. At times we did that, but to improve we need to have a higher level of quality on a more consistent basis when in possession of the ball.
“Overall, we did okay in what were tough playing conditions. Once again, it is a learning experience for our players and we’ll look to work on certain aspects of our play in the week ahead.”
The under-18s are next in action against Yeovil Town at Canford Arena on Saturday 19 November.
